FENCING that surrounds a Ludlow playground has finally been repaired - more than three months after it was damaged in a storm.
Children were put off using Tollgate Play Park, off Tollgate Road, because of the state of the fence. However, it has now been, much to the delight of locals.
Councillor Andy Boddington, who lives by the play area, said. "The kids that play in the street in front of my flat and in the community area behind it use the play area on Tollgate.
"It is where the kids from streets around gather. It has worked really well as a safe play space. People passing by can look into the play area and that promotes safety.
"It is great that the fence has been repaired, but there is more work to be done."
A Shropshire Council spokesperson said: "Following an external quote of £25,000 for the work, Shropshire Council undertook the repairs using its own internal resources at a cost of £6,000.
"This represents extremely good value and demonstrates how the council is using its resources wisely and responsibly at a time of significant budgetary pressure."
