A POPULAR burger business is looking to expand after opening a restaurant in Shropshire.

The Beefy Boys, who first arrived on the food scene in Herefordshire in 2011, are regular visitors to Ludlow, with their food truck, a converted UPS delivery vehicle, making appearances at venues including Ludlow Brewery and major events such as the Ludlow Food Festival.

Born out of a back garden barbecue in 2011, the Beefy Boys started out as a pop-up restaurant and went on to claim top spot in the final round of the World Burger Championships in Las Vegas with their 'Butty Back' creation in 2014, alongside other awards

They delighted fans when in December 2015 they opened their long-awaited restaurant at The Old Market shopping centre.

The Beefy Boys' Hereford Meat Boutique, which has a focus on using local ingredients and suppliers including Peter Cooks Bread and Wye Valley Brewery, has been a runaway success, with booking often essential to guarantee a table.

And in 2021, they took the next leap, opening a restaurant in Shrewsbury's High Street.

Hot on the heels of their permanent expansion into Shropshire, they also opened a third restaurant, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, earlier this year.

Now, the Beefy Boys are looking to add to their Shrewsbury restaurant with an outside dining area.

The business, which already offers a large outside dining area at its Hereford restaurant, has applied to Shropshire Council for a pavement licence.

The application, which is to turn an area of two metres by 11.1 metres in the loading bay in front of the premises for the placement of tables, chairs, and parasols, was submitted to the council on April 29.

Businesses wishing to use the pavement outside their property must seek permission from the council to do so, leaving a minimum available width of at least 1.5 metres on footpaths and four metres on pedestrian areas maintained for pedestrians at all times.

Comments are now closed on the application.
