A DRINK-driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught out while over the limit in Ludlow.

James Burrage entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Telford in May.

The court heard from prosecutor Charlotte Morgan that the 46-year-old had been caught driving a Volkswagen Caddy van while over the alcohol limit in Ludlow's Corve Street on April 6.

An evidential breath test revealed that he had 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Burrage, of Henley Road, Ludlow, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £466 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £186 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
