LUDLOW TOWN had a successful Easter weekend with four points from two matches to cement their mid-table position.
Chris Waldron’s side started the weekend with a hard-fought 3-2 win against relegation threatened Woodford United.
The home team started brightly and soon went 1-0 up early on after full-back Torin Hegley netted his first goal for the club.
After dominating the first 10 mins Town eased off their tempo, allowing Woodford to come into the game equalising and then taking a 2-1 lead.
Ludlow reshuffled and changed formation in a big to turn the momentum. Midfielder Jack Dwyer pulled the home side level at the break with his maiden first team goal.
In the second half Ludlow kept pushing for the winner, while Woodford looked dangerous on the break.
Ludlow’s pressure resulted in the hosts being awarded a penalty, which was missed after the spot kick hit the bar.
On his return from injury Ramzi Brick found the winner with his strike flying into the top corner.
Woodford were desperate to pull back into the tie and collect some much-needed points, but left empty handed after having an attempt cleared off the line.
Ludlow backed up their winning performance two days later with a goalless draw against third placed Bewdley Town.
Ludlow started brightly with forward Harley Morris causing problems for the home side on the break but neither side was able to create a first half opening.
Visiting goalkeeper Zach Venables was forced to make a good stop in the second half, in a rare piece of action.
Ludlow thought they had stolen the points at the end as the Bewdley keeper missed his clearance which Brick crossed for Morris, but his shot went narrowly wide after a deflection.
