LUDLOW Town boss Chris Waldron believes his side can pick up vital away points and steer clear of the relegation battle.
Waldron’s confidence comes following a 2-0 defeat at home against Hellenic Division One leaders FC Stratford at the weekend.
The defeat came a week after Waldron’s side battled to a 2-2 draw on the road at second placed Wantage.
Ludlow sit in 10th position, but just nine points above the relegation zone and head to strugglers Clanfield 85 and Carterton in their next two matches.
Clanfield were given renewed hope on Saturday of a dramatic survival bid by winning 3-2 at Malmesbury Victoria.
“Other results didn’t go our way at the weekend,” said Waldron. “After playing three of the top four sides in the last three games, have some games coming up against teams that are around us.
“We need to start picking up some points. Performances in the last three games gives me the confidence that we can.”
After providing a match for Wantage the previous weekend Ludlow again provided a tough test for Stratford during an even first half.
However, two quick goals from Daniel Atkins and Tyrese Sibanda were enough for Stratford to clinch the points.
Neither side were able to trouble their opponents goal for the remainder of the game as the tie ended 2-0.
Waldron was grateful that the sun was out on Saturday which dried out Ludlow’s pitch in time for the clash to go ahead.
Meanwhile, Ludlow RFC’s local derby clash against Hereford was postponed due to a flooded Wyeside pitch.
Ludlow will now visit Hereford on March 14, which was previously a free weekend.
They are back at the Linney on for a Regional 2 Midlands West clash against Shipston-on-Stour.
