THERE were celebrations for Ludlow Ladies after they clinched their first win of the season on Saturday – an emphatic 6-1 victory over Wem/Market Drayton 2nds.
Claire Stewardson returned to the side and was instrumental, scoring five of the goals.
But it was Katie Appleby who had the honour of netting Ludlow’s first goal of the season after she latched on to a Stewardson pass.
Julie Chamberlain was named player of the match.
Sunday saw the Ladies back in action but they could not continue their winning run at home to Wem/Market Drayton 1sts, going down 7-3 with Leahana Parry scoring twice and Kim Leighton bagging the other.
Player of the match was Tanya Chamberlain
Tenbury Ladies, meanwhile, were held to a goalless draw by hosts Pershore Ladies thanks in part to a number of good saves from the home keeper to deny Abi Davis, Cat Mumford and Gemma Tomms.
Pershore finished the stronger and it needed excellent defending from Jo Turvey and Jess Banks and good goalkeeping from Ferm Bowkett to secure the draw.
