LUDLOW head to AFC Broseley in Division Two of the West Midlands League this Saturday looking to make a winning start to the new year.
And boss Luke Hicks is hoping to build on the positives from the weekend when his side were edged out 2-1 by visitors Gornal Colts.
One major boost was the return of James Byatt from injury and he marked his first start of the season by netting Ludlow’s goal, a great volley from the edge of the area.
“Having James back is like having a new signing,” Hicks admitted.
“He’s been out all season with a groin injury so it’s great to have him back.”
A red card for skipper Kieran Dovey didn’t help Ludlow’s cause against Gornal and the manager is hoping his captain can learn from the experience.
“He has reacted to an elbow by kicking their player,” Hicks said.
“The referee only saw the retaliation and it’s frustrating because we lose him now for three games.”
League rivals Church Stretton had their match with AFC Bridgnorth Development postponed but will be hoping that their match at home to Wolverhampton United gets the green light.
