Church Stretton 2 Ketley Bank United 1

STRETTON manager Rick Corfield says he doesn’t mind his players having a drink — as long as it’s after the match.

First-half goals from Richard Groome and Dean Richards fired Stretton to an excellent home win which knocked the leaders off top spot.

But Corfield said: “I found out that my two centrehalves had been out clubbing till 2am on Saturday morning which was a bit disappointing.

“I would rather they saved things like that until after the game.”

Bank cashed in on Stretton’s slow start and went ahead in the third minute in this Shropshire County League Premier Division match.

But Groome then equalised from inside the six-yard box and Richards fired home before the break.

“Ketley were saying that they had players missing — but it’s the same for every club.

“We had a strong squad with four players on the bench.”

Seventh-placed Stretton are now level on points with Ludlow Town — both sides have 27 points — but they have played four more games than their SBS rivals.
