Evesham 37 pts Tenbury 11.

TENBURY made an exit from the North Midlands Cup at the quarter-final stage under the floodlights at Evesham.

Tenbury gave a creditable performance against unbeaten and higher-graded opponents. The scoreline would have had a more even look about it if Tenbury had managed to land several kickable penalties.

Evesham led 10-0 through a converted try and penalty before Tenbury established a foothold in the game when Fraser Young went over for the visitors’ only try following a fine break by Richard Wozencroft.

Lineout thrower Rob Phillips was forced to leave the field with an ankle injury, but Ben King was able to slot into the position of hooker and turn in a good performance.

Debutant Joel Brook excelled with some resolute defending against the lively Evesham backs and Will Gough landed two penalties before the home team gradually took control.
