LINNEY opened their 2010 Ludlow Bowls League against their first team comrades Ludlow Castle. After the first four games, it was Ludlow Castle taking three games to one. Winning for Castle were Neil Crump 21-11, Graham Lane 21-14 and Matt Lane 21-10. Winning for Linney wasIan Jackson 21-17.
The middle four games also went 3-1 in favour of Ludlow Castle, Graham Pritchard 21-18, Rich Griffiths 21-10 and Carl Bowen 21-9 winning. Linney’s winner being Matt Bowen with an excellent 21-16.
The last two games included the game of the night between Mal Griffiths (Castle) and Steve Davies (Linney).
Griffiths took a 6-0 lead, Davies then with some excellent tight bowling went 10-7 up.
Griffiths then pulled the score round with some brilliant bowling and got 20-14 up. Davies then dug in and pulled the game around to win 21-20. Finally Rich Lane won the other game for Ludlow Castle giving them a 7-3 victory and a plus 54 shots.
