THE cold weather played havoc with the local sports programme for the second weekend running.

Ludlow Rugby Club beat the weather the previous weekend, when they staged a cup match with Bishop’s Castle at the Linney.

Along with all the other local sides they were left kicking their heels this time, when they were due to resume their league campaign.

It was almost a similar story with the football programme, with all the games off except the one involving Ludlow Town.

Ironically this game was scheduled to take place at Bewdley. The home side play next to the river and were keen not to lose the game to the weather.

It was shifted to the artificial grass pitch at the SBS Stadium, allowable under league rules providing both sides agree. Club correspondent Chris Richards commented that Bewdley are arguably the best footballing sides in the league, the last you would choose to play in ideal conditions. Town were happy to oblige but may have had second thoughts when the final whistle signalled a 6-0 defeat.
