AFTER dropping down the batting order with a foot injury the previous weekend and ending up not out, Peter Lee was back in his usual opening spot last Saturday and carried his bat to lead Church Stretton to a winning draw at Cae Glas.

He had a bit of luck on his way to an undefeated 76 which formed the backbone of the visitors' total of 167-6 in their 40 overs.

His main assistance came from Martin Nicholls (25) who joined him in a profitable partnership for the fourth wicket.

Ben Oakley scored a belligerent 46, including one huge six, but when he was out the run-rate dropped.

Andy Griffiths opened the innings and batted steadily throughout the 34 overs he was at the crease. But none of his later partners were able to force the pace against some accurate bowling, especially from Ed Smith (3-43) and Martin Nicholls (2-28).

The home side finished up 22 runs short of their target with three wickets in hand.
