MOTHER and son Viv and George Cooper took home the title as the Flowfit Ludlow and District Bowls League held its first competition in two years.
The Coopers, from the Temesters club, beat Andy Pain and Phil Pack 21-9 in the final of the league doubles, which was held at Cleobury Mortimer Bowling Club and featured 10 pairs.
Pain and Pack enjoyed home advantage but the green is also to the Coopers’ liking, having won this title there previously in 2016.
Meanwhile, five singles games, including husband against wife, were among seven titles up for grabs on a memorable finals day at Brimfield and Little Hereford Bowling Club.
Craig Webb won a thrilling men’s singles final, coming from 10-5 and 20-15 down to beat Dave Evans 21-20.
There was also a comeback in the ladies’ singles final but Barbara Griffiths’ revival from 11 shots behind fell just short as Jennie Cole narrowly triumphed 21-19.
Jim Allen beat wife Lynne 21-17 after a marathon 27 ends in the Arthur Edwards Trophy final, while Bob Hughes edged out Ian Ferguson 21-18 to win the Millennium Plate.
Rosie Sheridan and Richard Griffiths won the Barnet Bowl pairs, while Alec Tandler shook off the disappointment of a 21-19 defeat to Evans in the crown singles as he and wife Karen beat Webb and Chris Woodcock 21-5 in the crown pairs.
