TRAILING on the hour and struggling, Clee Hill scored an opportunist try from a penalty, and went on to see off the challenge of local rivals Tenbury to reach the fifth round of the EDF Junior Vase.

With Hill missing key players, and Tenbury struggling for form in the league, this cup-tie was always going to be difficult to predict. Tenbury got away to a flying start with Richard Evans putting them 6-0 up from two penalties inside the first 15 minutes to give their confidence a real boost.

The home side won plenty of possession but their makeshift side struggled to find enough fluency to threaten the visitor's line. Tenbury had a set-back when fly half Dave Edwards broke a leg.

The second half was following a similar pattern, with open-side forward Charlie Ferneyhough prom-inent for the visitors. Then with 15 minutes to go the tie reached a focal point.

Phil Edwards took a quick tap from a penalty in front of the posts, and released Adam Yarnold to touchdown. Andrew Horsfall added the conversion to give the home team a slender lead.

Hill went on to add two more tries. Steve Jones rounded off an attack for the first and then Yarnold stole the ball and ran in his second score as Tenbury hurried a throw-in, trying to force a way back into the tie. Horsfall added both conversions.

Clee now look to better last year's run in the competition, which saw them lose narrowly to Bedford Swifts in the fifth round.
