MIKE Foster scored twice in the first half to put United in control, and then doubled his tally after the break as the home side cruised to a big, morale boosting West Midlands League Division 2 win at Palmer's Meadow on Saturday.

Playing second from bottom Brereton, the home side were looking to build on their useful second half performance the previous weekend. They took control from the start, but just like the Heath Town game struggled to turn pressure into goals.

Graham Caldicott, Paul Smith and Foster all chipped the keeper but failed to find the target, whereas Colin Powell had a header on target just kept out by the custodian. Foster netted after 15 minutes, and again on the half hour mark, to put United in charge at the break.

Any comeback plans Brereton had hatched during the interval were quickly dashed when Christian Bright scored in the opening minutes of the second half. The home side were back on the attack, and this time turned the chances into goals.

Foster scored twice to give him four for the game, and Bright added a second, but perhaps the moment of the day came when 48-year-old Ian George came up from the back to head home a rare goal.

Brereton looked dangerous on the break but found goalkeeper Alex Bright in his customary inspired form, despite having a rare quiet game.

With other results also going their way, the three points lifts United up to seventh from bottom, and nine points clear of their opponents.

This weekend Tenbury travel to Droitwich Spa in the Worcestershire Junior Cup.
