Ludlow Men secured their first win of the Bodykraft League Division One season in impressive style with a 3-0 win over Newtown at Leominster, on Saturday.

Ludlow soon took the lead after constant pressure on the Newtown defence led to a Nick Brooks goal. Ludlow continued to dominate and made it difficult for Newtown to string together any lengthy spells of possession.

Just before half time, Ludlow increased their lead when Kevin Williams found the net with a blistering short-corner strike.

Ludlow stood their ground as Newtown stepped up their game and forced Ludlow to adopt a slightly more defensive strategy. As Ludlow's defensive presence began to frustrate Newtown, Ludlow took advantage of the visitors tiring midfielders and pushed forward. Luke Beddoes led the charge down the right wing, and his tenacious attacking style led to a penalty stroke for Ludlow when he was illegally tackled in front of goal. Kevin Williams, converted the penalty and handed Ludlow an unassailable 3-0 lead.
