SKIPPER Julie Chamberlain scored one goal and set up the other as Ludlow Ladies climbed to sixth in the Shropshire League with a 2-0 win at home to Wem and Market Drayton seconds.

Ludlow bossed possession in the first half but were kept at bay by the Wem keeper and had to wait until the second period to break through thanks to Chamberlain’s fine dribble into the D and finish.

They doubled the lead 15 minutes later with a training ground short corner routine as Chamberlain slipped Helen Braden’s delivery to Claire Beddow, who smashed home to seal the points.

Elsewhere, Ludlow’s men’s first XI maintained their West Midlands One promotion push with a 6-0 home thumping of Bournville seconds to go third in the table, two points behind leaders Stafford.

There was an excellent 2-1 win for Tenbury Ladies at high-flying Bromsgrove seconds in Worcestershire Women’s Division One.

Bromsgrove took the lead after an unfortunate defensive mix-up but Tenbury levelled through debutant Daisy Davis and won it thanks to Izzy Griffiths’ second-half strike.
