A DOMINANT derby victory over Shrewsbury kept Ludlow men’s first XI right in the thick of a thrilling West Midlands Hockey League Division One promotion race.
Ludlow triumphed 4-1 at their Shropshire rivals to stay fourth in the table, just two points behind top two Wolverhampton and Stafford.
With those top two meeting this weekend, Ludlow can make further ground if they win at home to a Bournville side that has not tasted victory all season.
Elsewhere, Ludlow seconds lost 3-0 at home to high-flying Cannock, while Ludlow Ladies lost 4-0 at unbeaten league leaders Bridgnorth in the Shropshire League.
While that was not the result they were looking for, it was still a marked improvement on the previous meeting between the sides earlier this season when Bridgnorth won 11-0 at Ludlow.
Tenbury Ladies’ seconds climbed off the foot of Worcestershire Women’s League Division Three with a 2-0 win at home to Redditch seconds.
