COLD weather has not deterred members of Ludlow Golf Club from taking to the course with Darren Humphries and Ross Magill triumphing in the third round of the Winter Series Pairs events.

The duo stormed to victory on 75 Stableford multiplier points, a huge 13 clear of second-placed pair Steve Ashmead and Nigel Smith on 62.

Peter Monk and Phil Kinder claimed third place by virtue of a better back nine after finishing level with Nick Apperley and Neill Smith on 59 points.

The seniors played their “Two 9’s” competition, a Stableford format with prizes awarded for the front and back nines.

Leading the way on the front nine, with 19 points, was Bill Billson, two clear of a tie for second place between John Cooke and Dave Simpson.

The back nine was won by John Phillips, whose 20 points pipped a three-way tie for second between Tony Stanley, Andrew MacWhirter and Geoff Sharrad, all scoring 19 points.
