THERE were mixed results for Tenbury Ladies’ two sides in the Worcestershire Women’s Hockey League last weekend even though both put in fine performances.
The first XI lost 3-1 at high-flying Worcester seconds despite taking an early lead when Cat Mumford finished Lindsey Aldridge-Bufton’s corner after a well-worked one-two with Kate Mifflin.
Worcester equalised shortly before half-time and, despite a gutsy effort from Tenbury – who fielded two 13-year-olds, Olivia Davies and Georgia Turvey – the hosts added two more after the break.
While the firsts’ fine display went unrewarded, not so for the seconds who claimed their maiden win of the Division Three campaign by triumphing 4-0 at Kings Heath Pickwick.
Izzy Griffiths and Turvey were among the scorers for Tenbury.
Elsewhere, Ludlow men’s first XI had a mixed weekend in West Midlands Division One, losing 6-4 at home to Bromsgrove on Saturday but winning 3-2 at leaders Wolverhampton in a rearranged game on Sunday.
Ludlow sit third in a tight promotion race and visit fifth-placed Shrewsbury in another important game this Saturday.
