CLEE Hill RFC skipper Charlie Evans believes his side could benefit from the pressure being off after being drawn away in the Midlands Junior Vase final.

Hill lost the flip of the coin, meaning they will have to trek to the East Midlands to take on Leicester-based Birstall in the regional showpiece on Saturday, March 14.

But with Midlands honours on the line – and the winners one further victory from a Twickenham national final – Evans is unworried about home advantage.

“A home game would have been nice but it doesn’t really matter. We just have to get on with it,” said the skipper.

“We managed away the round before last and I’m sure we will take plenty of support.

“Having not got to the final before, it would have been nice to host it but with us being away, the pressure might be off slightly more than it would have been at our own ground.”

Hill maintained second place in Midlands Four West North – with two games in hand and level on points with leaders Aldridge – after last weekend’s opponents Trentham could not raise a side.

They visit struggling Warley this Saturday having played just once in three weeks and Evans added: “We want to get back at it and get some game time."
