DELIGHTED Ludlow FC boss Chris Waldron admits promotion is firmly back on the agenda after his ‘brilliant’ side stunned West Midlands League Division Two table-toppers AFC Bentley 3-1.

Ludlow erased memories of last month’s 8-0 drubbing at the leaders as they came from behind to beat 10-man Bentley with goals from Jack Marston and Owen Holdsworth plus Zac Williams’ penalty.

Waldron’s men remain fifth but are just five points off second-placed Coven Athletic, who they host this weekend, with Ludlow also boasting two games in hand.

“It was brilliant on Saturday,” beamed Waldron. “I couldn’t have asked for any more. We’ve had a hard run of fixtures but second place is there to try to go for and that will be the aim now.

“A lot depends on the next result – I’m not sure there are enough games left to turn it around if we lose, so it’s massive. But we have great confidence at the minute and we want to keep that going.”

Church Stretton remain third, meanwhile, after their trip to Newport Town was rained off. Stretton host struggling Telford Juniors this Saturday.
