DESPITE spending time away from the course this season 15 handicapper Andy Webb has continued to improve won the Ross Golf Club annual men's Christmas Fayre 16 holes singles stableford competition.

Some 80 men members took part in the competition which had plenty of festive prizes at stake.

Webb was able to take home the day's top prize after his impressive 37 points score made him a clear winner in a round which included eight pars and a 21 points haul from his front nine holes played.

While becoming a father during the year has limited his experiences Webb has certainly made the most of those occasions winning the Collins Flag honours board event in June and seeing his handicap improve from 17.

'A' Team stalwart, Tim Wyatt was the deserved runner up with 36 points and a round memorable for its nine pars, two birdies and an eagle two at the 16th par four hole.

Phil Thompson also carded a 36 points score.

There were 35 points scores by Shaun Sturge, teenager Matty Dobbs and Steve Wallbank, 34 points totals by Stephen Forrest, and Martyn Walker and 33 points by Peter Bennett who all won meaningful prizes, as did more than half of those who supported the event.

Ross Ladies were also in action recently and held their nine-hole Christmas competition.

Winners of the competition were Lois Price, Katie Stooke and Linda McCoy on the front nine holes with 38 points and Sally Fycun, Sue Johnson and Jose Wilson on the back nine with 34 points.
