TENBURY United and Town head into this weekend’s first derby of the season with both insisting victory is vital.

Second-placed United are two points behind Herefordshire Division One leaders Ross Juniors, while Town, in fifth, are six points adrift of their rivals but with two games in hand.

Dec Bright scored twice, including a fantastic solo goal, and Dan Ridley hit the winner as Town edged past Leominster 3-2 last weekend.

Joint boss Keiran Fish said: “We didn’t have the best of games and I told the lads we need to pick up our game to have a chance of beating United.

“It’s definitely a must win game for us – because of the rivalry and also the league. We need to win every game now to have a chance of winning the title as [leaders] Ross haven’t lost yet.”

United have not played for three weeks and coach Ryan Morris said: “It just depends who wants it the most on the day, regardless of league positions.

“If they beat us and win their games in hand they could be level with us, so we want to win to keep the pressure on them."
