TENBURY Ladies were left heartbroken by a last-gasp Stourport winner that decided a seven-goal Worcestershire Women's Hockey League Division One thriller in the visitors’ favour on Saturday.

The hosts started well and Rachel Croxton-Broome’s penalty corner forced an excellent save from the Stourport keeper.

Tenbury did not have to wait long to go ahead as excellent passing between Vickie Roberts and Izzy Griffiths ended with the latter lifting the ball into the top corner, giving the keeper no chance this time.

Stourport drew level before Tenbury scored a second from a penalty corner finished once again by the in-form Griffiths.

The visitors, however, again equalised on the half-time whistle and were the stronger team in the second half, going ahead 15 minutes from time.

Tenbury rallied and earned a penalty corner converted with a lovely flick by Kate Mifflin to make it 3-3 but a string of late Stourport penalty corners finally yielded the winner for the visitors.

A young Tenbury Second XI slipped to a 4-1 defeat at Harborne sixths in Division Three but felt the scoreline did not reflect their performance.

Harborne led 1-0 at half-time and scored three times after the break before Jane Hillhouse got one back for Tenbury after excellent attacking play between herself and Georgia Turvey.

Elsewhere, Ludlow men’s first XI fought out a 4-4 draw at West Midlands Division One promotion rivals Old Halesonians seconds to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Ludlow remain fourth in the table, level on points with third-placed Halesonians but four points behind leaders Wolverhampton heading into the winter break.
