TWICKENHAM is again on the horizon for Clee Hill and Tenbury – but each side says they will look no further than the next game after being drawn together in a Midlands Junior Vase semi-final rematch.

Tenbury reached last year’s Midlands final – ultimately losing to Mellish – after grinding out a tense 3-0 win over Clee Hill at Palmers Meadow almost 12 months ago.

Both sides have again progressed to this year’s regional last four – three wins from the national final at the home of English rugby – but this time it is Clee Hill who have home advantage on January 18.

However, Hill skipper Charlie Evans insisted: “Nobody has mentioned Twickenham – we failed against Tenbury last year so we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.

“No excuses last year and it’s nice to be playing them again, we’re excited about it. Hopefully the luck is on our side this time.”

Asked if home advantage matters, Evans added: “It shouldn’t but it seems to – Tenbury haven’t lost at home in 18 months and over the past two seasons we’ve only lost once at home, to Willenhall.”

Evans, however, maintains that the league is Clee Hill’s priority and they continued their promotion push by whitewashing Midlands Four West North strugglers Birmingham Exiles 44-0 last weekend.

Tim Breakwell bagged a brace, while Bryn Rees, Charlie Evans, Tom Evans and Matt Bowen also crossed and Hayden Edwards kicked two conversions, one penalty and a penalty try.

Tenbury, meanwhile, have struggled away in Midlands Four West South this season and lost 21-5 at Pershore last Saturday but director of rugby Andy Black is unperturbed.

He said: “I don’t think our league performances away reflect our cup away games – we have gone away in the cups over the course of the last couple of seasons and had some pretty good results.

“Both teams did very well last year and we will both want to go one stage further. Going to Clee Hill will be a challenge for us as it was for them coming to us last year.

“They are playing well, going well in their league but we have a few more games to get under our belts until the semi-final."
