TENBURY Ladies moved off the foot of the Worcestershire Women’s League Division One as they claimed their first win of the season in some style by thrashing Harborne fourths 8-2.

Despite a shaky start when Harborne went ahead after a defensive error, Tenbury soon asserted their authority and captain Cat Mumford led by example with a hat-trick.

Lindsey Aldridge-Bufton and Rachel Croxton-Broome both bagged braces before Harborne netted a consolation second goal late on.

Tenbury seconds also impressed by holding Division Three leaders Wyre Forest to a 1-1 draw, with Izzy Griffiths getting the visitors’ goal.

Ludlow Ladies climbed off the bottom of the Shropshire League with a 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury.

After falling behind early on, Ludlow dominated the rest of the game but had to wait until the final ten minutes to draw level as Claire Beddow netted from a penalty flick.

Ludlow’s men’s first XI moved up to fourth in West Midlands Division One with their fourth straight win, an impressive 3-1 victory at second-placed Stafford.

The seconds completed an excellent weekend for local hockey sides by thrashing Wolverhampton fourths 7-1.
