A THUMPING 11-1 win at Tamworth continued the upsurge of Ludlow men’s first XI as they stretched their unbeaten run to four games in West Midlands Hockey League Division One.

Ludlow are up to sixth in the table after a difficult start and could climb further with victory at home to fourth-placed Pershore at Much Wenlock this Saturday.

Elsewhere, Ludlow Ladies’ Shropshire League game with Bridgnorth seconds was postponed due to the weather, while Tenbury Ladies drew 1-1 at home to Redditch in Worcestershire Division One.

Redditch took the lead on 15 minutes before Tenbury rallied and their increased possession earned a number of penalty corners before half-time but they were unable to convert.

Tenbury were stronger in the second half and captain Cat Mumford scored with two minutes left after excellent build-up play by Vic Roberts and 14-year-old Olivia Davies to secure a well-earned draw.

The seconds won by forfeit as opponents Kings Heath conceded.
