AMY Fulford and Oliver Perratt produced a pair of top-three finishes for Ludlow Runners in the second race of the 2019/20 Herefordshire Cross Country League at Croft Castle.

Ludlow veteran Fulford (35.39mins) finished third in the women’s race, less than half a minute behind 19-year-old winner Hannah Lancaster (35.10mins) of home club Croft Ambrey.

Another Croft Ambrey runner, Gemma Mallett (35.26mins), finished second in a 102-strong field, a league record number.

Their efforts helped Croft Ambrey win the women’s team race, ahead of Builth in second and Croft B in third.

Croft Ambrey consolidated their lead in the battle for the league team title and now hold a 39-point lead over Builth. Ludlow are back in 11th place.

In the men’s race, Ludlow’s Perratt finished second in the field of 121 runners, almost a full minute behind winner Jonny Pugh of Builth. Croft Ambrey's Gareth Leek was third.

Builth underlined their superiority with a comprehensive team triumph as they strive to retain their league title. They comfortably lead the way ahead of Croft Ambrey with Ludlow down in seventh.
