UNHAPPY Ludlow FC boss Chris Waldron has slated league bosses for ‘joke’ fixture scheduling that has left his side without a game for seven weeks and feeling like they are starting the season again.

Ludlow have not played since their 5-2 West Midlands Division Two win at Warstones Wanderers back on September 14.

They were due to be back in action last weekend but torrential rain caused their Shropshire Challenge Cup game at home to Madeley Sports to be postponed.

That tie has been rearranged for this Saturday but Waldron is worried the 49-day gap between games will have disrupted his side’s early-season momentum that saw them take 10 points from 18.

He said: “It's been seven weeks since we played. It’s an absolute joke. We've played a couple of in-house friendlies but that has been it.

“We had a bye in the first round of the County Cup and apart from that it's just been the way the league fixtures have fallen. They start the season way too early, that's the trouble.

“It's like starting the season all over again - it's an absolute nightmare, I can't believe it.

“If you said to someone they would not have a game for seven weeks within the season, they would laugh. You would never think it could happen.

“Our secretary has spoken to the league but they won't do anything.”

It could have been even worse for Ludlow – they were originally scheduled to play league leaders Coven away before the cup rearrangement took precedence.

“That would have been a nice easy way to get back into it,” joked Waldron.

Instead, they will be favourites at home to Shropshire Premier side Madeley but Waldron added: “We won’t take them lightly – there are some good teams in the Shropshire Prem."
