NEW Ludlow Hockey Club men’s first XI skipper Sam Pratt believes his side are getting back on track after a slow start to the West Midlands Division One season.

Ludlow narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier Division last term, finishing fourth, and started this campaign poorly with defeats to Wolverhampton and Bromsgrove.

However, they got off the mark with a 3-1 win over Shrewsbury and then came from 3-1 down at Bournville last weekend to claim a 3-3 draw.

Skipper Pratt said: “We only had ten players for the first game which was why we lost badly (a 7-1 defeat to Wolverhampton) but we are starting to get switched on again.

“It’s been a bit of a slow start, I’m not going to lie, but we should be able to push on now.”

Elsewhere, rain put paid to many games although Tenbury Ladies’ match at league leaders Harborne did go ahead in Worcestershire Division One.

Tenbury held the table-toppers to 0-0 at the break in atrocious conditions but lost concentration in a ten-minute second-half spell in which Harborne scored three to win 3-0.
