CHURCH Stretton boss Scott Peever has challenged his side to build on their best performance of the season to climb to the summit of West Midlands Division Two this weekend.
Stretton beat Walsall Town Swifts 3-2 with goals from Owen Holdsworth, Dean Richards and James Hill to go second, a point behind leaders Coven Athletic – who Stretton host on Saturday.
Peever said: “I said previously we needed to produce 90-minute performances rather than patches – the lads did that on Saturday and got their rewards.
“Hopefully we can continue that this weekend and the lads will take confidence. We’ve always been strong at home and that could be key this season.
“It’s very tight still at the top and the win we had doesn’t change anything drastically – it looks as if the top six will be a mini league.
“But it would be nice if we can go top – you would always rather have points on the board than games in hand."
