CORVEDALE believe they have done enough to avoid relegation despite a heavy final-day defeat in Shropshire League Division Six.
Ian Alderson’s side were all out for 121 in reply to Willey’s 288-4, losing by 167 runs.
Corvedale won just four of 20 games but in a division reduced to 11 teams by Overton-on-Dee’s ejection, they avoided ending up bottom, finishing 15 points ahead of St George’s thirds.
Alderson said: “The league below only has ten teams so I would think they would send two up and only one down.
“We have had an absolutely nightmare season with injuries, I’ve never known a year like it.
“But we have probably the best two bowlers in the league in Harry Aldridge and Ross Mantle and we are looking forward to next year – we can’t be as unlucky as we have been this season.”
Church Stretton finished bottom of Division Four despite a winning draw against Acton Reynald while Bishops Castle survived despite being skittled for 40 in defeat to Wheaton Aston.
Ludlow seconds finished third in Division Three – William Wood hit 90 in their 300-4 at Wellington thirds and Edward Riley’s 5-68 helped dismiss the hosts for 188.
