GARNONS were crowned the winners of the GB Liners Marches Senior 20/20 KO Cup while Presteigne retained the Junior Cup on finals day at Luctonians.

The hosts, who are reigning Division One Champions, were put into bat on their home pitch and started well with openers James Platford (21) and Will Maund (29) helping their side to 72-2.

However, once wickets started to fall only Lucs’ skipper Pete Griffiths (20) could add any resistance as they finished on a creditable 143-8.

In contrast Garnons lost both openers with just eight runs on the board before Theodore Spreckley came to the crease and hit a match winning 69 including 12 fours and guiding Garnons to 144-6.

Following his departure Thomas James (21) and Duane Evans (10no) helped their side to victory.

On route to the final Garnons beat Kington by 50 runs in the semi-final after setting a total of 179-5 before skittling their hosts out for 129, Carl Lewis taking 4-31.

Presteigne were victorious once again as they saw off the challenge of Burghill, Tillington and Weobley to retain the Juniors 20/20 KO Cup.

Burghill set a reasonable target of 123-6 off their 20 overs which was knocked off with just 16.3 overs played.

On route to the final Presteigne saw off Herefordians by 99 runs in the quarter-final after posting a target of 232-3 which the hosts fell well short of.

In the semi-final Hay-on-Wye were unable to raise a team.
