CLEOBURY Mortimer clobbered Eastnor by 229 runs to reignite their promotion push in Worcestershire League Division Eight.

Mortimer shook off a run of one win in their previous six games with a superb display with both bat and ball, dismissing their hosts for a paltry 51.

Ed Kemp (3-15) and Harry Booton (3-14) destroyed Eastnor’s top order – their first five batsmen scored two runs combined – before Manley (2-11) and Evans (2-6) saw off the tail.

Earlier, skipper Sam Evans (63) had helped set a solid foundation before an unbeaten fourth-wicket stand between Ben Griffiths (82no) and James Manley (77no) propelled Cleobury to 280-3.

In Marches League Division Three, Knighton on Teme cruised to an equally-comfortable ten-wicket win at Presteigne.

Arthur Smith (4-29) and Dan Pullen (3-14) shone with the ball as Knighton skittled their hosts for just 88 with Matt James (55no) and Adam Brownhill (22no) strolling to victory at 89-0 in reply.
