SHAWBURY United have signed midfield duo Jack Marston and Kieran Dovey - both former players of their Bromfield Road landlords Ludlow FC.

Marston has been released by Hereford FC and scored eight goals in 18 West Midlands Two games on a dual registration with Ludlow last term, winning the division’s Player of the Season award.

The 18-year-old said: “It’s clear the club have ambitions and with the quality of players and the staff that’s on board it looks to be a promising season.”

Dovey, 24, meanwhile, returns to his former club Shawbury, now in the West Midlands Premier, having previously played for them for two seasons in the division above.

He said: “When I spoke to the management, the ambition they have shown and their plans to take the club forward made it an easy decision.”

The pair become the fifth and sixth signings of new boss Declan Allen, who said: “I’ve known of Jack for a number of years from his time at Hereford.

“He had a successful year in Division Two last season and knows the time is right to now challenge himself higher.

“Kieran comes here with a good reputation and turned down offers from clubs higher in the pyramid after buying into what we are about.”
