CLEOBURY Mortimer Running Club recorded an amazing clean sweep – by claiming the top seven spots at the recent 5km Severn Valley Trail Run.
Matthew Bailey won the race to lead the Cleobury contingent home at the Severn Valley Country Park in Alverley, with clubmate Joanne Watson the first female over the line and sixth overall.
The other Cleobury runners in the top seven were Steve Turner (2nd), Luke Williams (3rd), Tom Bentley (4th), Chris Taylor (5th) and Neal Bailey (7th).
There was an excellent turnout of 34 runners from the club who, between them, won 11 of the age group prizes on offer.
Turner, Williams, Nikki Tromans, Katy Broome, Taylor, Bentley, Neal Bailey, Heather Morgan and Andie Ford were the other age group victors in addition to overall winners Bailey and Watson.
The race was part of Cleobury’s Inter-Club Championship League and was a challenging off-road run through woodlands, meadows and along the banks of the River Severn.
