FITNESS will be Tenbury Town co-manager Keiran Fish’s summer watchword as he plots to put this season’s forgettable campaign firmly in the rear view mirror.

Town ended their Herefordshire Premier season with a 5-1 defeat at Ledbury Town – Dec Bright scoring for Tenbury – as the hosts netted three times in the final few minutes.

It was not the first time Town have folded late in a game and Fish admitted: “Training on the astroturf at Cleobury as we do, you can only really play a game, eight-a-side maybe.

“We train there because it has the lights when it goes dark but when we are outside at Woofferton we can do drills and go over game-like situations, which I intend to do more next season.

“We want to get everyone’s fitness up a bit more – it’s let us down a couple of times this season. We want to work on shooting too because we have lacked goals.”

Town must wait on Kington’s final fixtures to find out whether they will finish bottom – either way Fish has already stated the club may seek relegation to Division One.

He added: “From what I’ve gathered, the lads want to drop down and rebuild, but we will have a vote to make sure it’s what everyone wants.”
