A SWEET sixteen kept Ludlow men’s promotion hopes alive going into the final day of the West Midlands Hockey League Division One season – but they will be reliant on favours elsewhere.
Ludlow thrashed basement side Leek 16-0 to remain in the hunt and move up to third but they are three points behind top two Market Drayton and Stourport.
Ludlow must win this weekend at fourth-placed Redditch – who still have a sniff of going up if they win – and hope Market Drayton lose at fifth-placed Bournville or Stourport lose at home to struggling West Brom.
Elsewhere, Tenbury Ladies fought out a goalless draw at Bournville in Worcestershire League Division One with keeper Fern Bowkett making several excellent saves, while Lindsey Aldridge Bufton and Emma Weatherall also impressed.
