DOUBLE disaster hit Ludlow FC as they wasted a string of chances against champions-elect Gornal Colts – and lost star striker Tom Everall for the upcoming cup semi-final between the sides.
Victory in Ludlow’s final West Midlands League Division Two game of the season could have secured a top-four finish.
But they failed to make their first-half dominance count and lost to a Gornal penalty 15 minutes from time, not long after top scorer Everall had been sent off for two bookable offences.
Everall will now miss Ludlow’s League Cup semi-final trip to double-hunting Gornal on April 13.
Boss Chris Waldron said: “It was frustrating as we should have been out of sight after 20 minutes – we created chance after chance.
“We just couldn’t finish one off and that’s been the story of the season – we don’t kill games off when we are on top.
“Tom’s sending-off was also frustrating as his first offence wasn’t a yellow card.
“The ref was card happy – he sent off a Gornal player too five minutes from time and booked goodness knows how many."
