CLEOBURY Mortimer RFC ran in six tries in a second-half blitz to make it five wins on the spin with a 44-0 whitewash of Handsworth in Midlands Three West North.

The hosts led just 5-0 at the break, Jack Samways notching the solitary first-half try for Mortimer who had to play with 14 men for ten minutes after Alex Sparks’ sin-binning.

Two tries in the first five minutes of the second half, from Josh Winfield and James Cutts, stretched the lead to 17-0.

A Hayden Edwards penalty, and tries from Luke Hannaford, Ed Lewis, Sid Gittens and another for Samways, completed the rout as Mortimer leapfrogged Handsworth to seventh in the table.

In Midlands Four West North, meanwhile, fourth-placed Clee Hill kept their slim promotion hopes alive with a 23-5 bonus-point win at lowly Bloxwich.

Callum Preece, Robbie Jordan, Charlie Evans and Dan Drinkwater crossed the line for Clee Hill while Evans also kicked a penalty.
