LUDLOW Runners women had to settle for a fourth place overall finish in the Herefordshire Cross Country League series despite two athletes claiming podium spots in the season’s final meeting.

Alice Godding finished as senior women runner-up overall after coming second in the last meeting of the season at Nash Wood, behind overall champion Bethan Logan of Hay Hotfooters, who also won the final race.

Ludlow finished in second place on the day in the women’s team event thanks to third-placed Amy Fulford accompanying Godding on the podium.

The Runners’ Tina Cartwright won the overall veteran women’s 60+ title, while Sybil Marsh claimed overall glory in the 70+ age category.

Over the season, Ludlow men finished ninth after a sixth-placed effort at the final meeting with Craig Collier (22nd), David Archer (30th) and Mark Warren (33rd) their top performers.

Warren won the overall men’s 55+ league title, with Ludlow teammate Paul Baskeyfield finishing third in the campaign as a whole.
