A KIT mix-up left Tenbury United’s players needing to pull their socks up at half-time last weekend – once they finally got them on!
United’s kit bag was missing their socks when they turned up for Saturday’s Herefordshire Premier home game against Holme Lacy.
The garments did not arrive until 20 minutes before kick-off and United lost 2-1 as their six-game unbeaten run in the league came to an end.
Socks were a key item on a frosty weekend that saw most matches in the Herefordshire and West Midlands leagues called off – but joint-boss Aaron Morris refused to blame the loss on the mix-up.
He said: “We were kicking off at 2.30 and still waiting for the socks at 2.10 so our preparation was poor as we only had a few minutes warm-up.
“But it’s not like we were caught cold in the first ten minutes – it was 20-25 minutes before they scored. It was just one of those things, we never got going.”
Morris, who pulled one back himself with a second-half free-kick, added: “We changed formation and dominated but couldn’t score, while they only had two shots all game.”
