LUDLOW Hockey Club Ladies came from behind to claim their second win of the season in the Marches League with a fine 2-1 victory over Wem and Market Drayton.
The visitors went ahead against the run of play but Ludlow levelled 15 minutes later as Shaunagh Yarham tucked home Claire Stewardson’s cross.
The second half was end-to-end but Ludlow secured the points five minutes from time as Sophie Chamberlain lifted a cool finish over the Wem keeper.
Ludlow’s men’s firsts put successive narrow defeats behind them to get their West Midlands Division One promotion push back on track with a derby win at Shrewsbury.
The victory keeps fourth-placed Ludlow three points behind second-placed Redditch.
Ludlow went ahead after 15 minutes when Andy Richards fired between the Shrewsbury keeper’s legs.
They doubled their lead 20 minutes into the second half through Craig Heath’s diving finish.
Shrewsbury pulled one back from a penalty stroke but Ludlow held out in a frantic finale.
