LUDLOW Hockey Club’s men’s first XI slipped to back-to-back defeats in West Midlands League Division One as they lost 2-1 at home to Bournville seconds.

Despite being without several key players, Ludlow made a strong start and they took the lead after 15 minutes.

Having forced several quality saves from the Bournville keeper up to that point, Ludlow finally broke the deadlock as Sam Pratt worked space on the left hand side of the 'D' and his ferocious reverse stick strike flew in.

Ludlow continued to dominate but could not add to their lead and Bournville levelled just before half-time against the run of play.

The second half proved to be a very different affair as Ludlow faded and Bournville took advantage of a loose pass to go in front.

Ludlow rallied towards the end but were either off target with their final shot or denied by the inspired Bournville keeper.
