TWO Uttoxeter tries in the dying minutes meant Cleobury Mortimer came away empty-handed from their first Midlands Three West North encounter of 2019.
Trailing to a converted try from the hosts, Cleobury pulled back to 7-5 with an unconverted 38th-minute score from Luke Hannaford.
An interception try shortly after the break put Uttoxeter 14-5 ahead but Cleobury closed within four points when James Cutts touched down on 52 minutes.
A penalty and drop goal stretched Uttoxeter’s lead to 20-10 but Cleobury were still in with a shout of at least a losing bonus point.
However, a late yellow card proved costly, allowing Uttoxeter to score two late tries to win 30-10.
Elsewhere, Bishops Castle & Onny Valley lost 22-7 at home to Chaddesley Corbett in Midlands Five West North and Church Stretton forfeited their game at Warley.
