BISHOPS Castle FC boss Dan Dawson is targeting a league and cup double after another impressive win – but admits promotion possibilities are up in the air.

Castle won the Montgomeryshire Division One title last year and currently sit second in the table, three points behind leaders Guilsfield Reserves.

However, they have previously been denied promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League because the club is based in Shropshire and Dawson hopes the issue can be ironed out.

He said: “The team we have here should be pushing to play in a higher division but we will have to wait and see.”

Castle progressed in the league cup with a 5-0 win at Division Two leaders Trefonen as Martin Ziemann, George Mellor and Jake Ellis scored in the first half before Gareth Bromley came off the bench to net a second-half brace.

Dawson added: “The league is the priority but a cup win would be nice too.”
