TENBURY Ladies could not quite follow up their victory over table-topping Bromsgrove the previous week as they rounded off the first half of the season with a 3-2 home defeat by Pershore.

Buoyed by the aforementioned win, Tenbury started brightly in their final game of 2018 and took the lead early on through Rachel Croxton Broom’s composed finish.

Abi Davis was proving difficult for the visiting side to contain and broke through on goal on many occasions but the Pershore keeper did well to prevent Tenbury adding to their lead.

Then, against the run of play on the brink of half-time, Pershore caught Tenbury on the break to claim an equaliser that was harsh on the hosts.

The visitors went ahead after the break with a well-worked goal before making it 3-1 from a penalty corner.

Tenbury tried to mount a comeback and Cat Mumford and Davis linked up for the latter to score a unstoppable goal from open play.

However, Tenbury just could not convert their chances to equalise and now sit sixth in the Worcestershire League Division One table at the midpoint of the campaign.

The second XI’s trip to University of Birmingham sixths was postponed.
