HEREFORD hope that new signing Josh Gowling will have a calming influence on their dressing room.

The 34-year-old has played League One football for Bournemouth, Carlisle United, Gillingham and was on loan at Hereford United in the 2008-09 season when he made 13 appearances.

More recently he made over 100 appearances for Kidderminster Harriers in the Conference Premier between 2012 and 2015.

Last season he made 12 appearances for Torquay United.

Speaking to the club’s official website Gowling said: “I think I’m quite calm and collected. When the pressure is on, that’s when I come into my own, and I’m a bit more relaxed.

“It’s about seeing out games. When you’re on top, getting that finish, and then when your backs against the wall just being together, being solid and being organised.”

Head of Football Tim Harris added: “It’s that experience and calming influence and leadership qualities that we have been lacking.

“With Josh here, hopefully, that will help us settle down in certain stages of games where we need to just calm things down a little bit.”
