CHURCH Stretton FC twice surrendered the lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw on Saturday that kept visitors Hawkins Sports’ title hopes alive.

Matt Jones and Ashley Wells twice put the hosts in front, only for the Cheslyn Hay-based visitors equalise through Ryans Roberts and Bradshaw.

With second-placed FC Darlaston battering Oldbury United 7-1 in a goal laden Black Country derby, Church Stretton’s lead at the top of Division Two of the West Midlands Regional League was cut to two points.

Stretton will take on Shropshire Premier League underdogs Shrewsbury Juniors FC at home on Saturday, in the Shropshire FA Challenge Cup. The visitors, who play one rung beneath their hosts, sit second in the table.

With Church Stretton on cup duty at the weekend, Darlaston will have the chance to go top with a win away to an AFC Bridgnorth Development side who dented third-placed Gornal Colts’ title hopes on Saturday, by beating the Black Country outfit 3-1.
